I'm scared.... practically every piece of clothing I own is outside in my garage. And I am following my therapist's orders and putting out even the things that fit me last month. And that, my friends, feels crazy. For a life time yo-yo dieter, why would you get rid of the next size up? You keep that right? But my doc says NO - you get rid of it. You accept where you are and where you are going. You don't build safety nets. You charge forward and embrace your future.
After tomorrow, the only piece of plus sized clothing I will own is a dress jacket, size 14, that I want to keep until I see some sun and feel some warmth. I am totally freaking out....
But you will feel so good shopping for those new clothes!!
ReplyDeleteI SO get the reluctance to LET GO of the old. Suprisingly, our 'past' state of not trusting our success is easier than moving past our failure to be healthy. It's crazy! But I'm positive you have a lot of travelers alongside you on that road.
ReplyDeleteThe good news is that you CAN let go. The garage is the first step to be come out of "YOUR" closet...hahahaha!
Carry on...one day at a time, one outfit at a time, one pound at a time.
I'm almost 58, single mom to an almost 4 year old, down 56 pounds since July, and at 221- my lowest weight since I was a sophomore in high school! I am clueless about what I will look like at a healthier weight(5'2" and aiming for 145#). So when you get rattled, think of me chugging behind you wondering where the hell I'm headed. Stay the course! You are doing fabulous work!
