My Hair...

I see a lot of posts on lapbandtalk about people worrying about losing their hair.  My hair started to fall out around my temples around month 3.  The falling out was often a little freaky - but it also grew at the same time.  I noticed that it slowed around month 6.

It's slow now but I often notice little short pieces, newly grown hair.  Little wisps as if it had broken off.

I don't lose handfuls of hair anymore - and it actually seems kind of normal.  What's not exactly normal is that my hair has not yet returned to its normal thickness.  I seem to have less hair - not that this is a problem for me since I used to have TOO much, thick, boofy hair.  If I braid it, the braid is noticeably thinner.  I am not sure why.

I take a multivitamin and I get about 60-80 grams of protein per day in my 700-800 calorie diet.  I sometimes wonder though if I got more protein, or if I took a different type of supplement, things would change.  But then again, I don't want my boofy hair to TOTALLY come back ;)

  1. I am noticing a little hair loss right now! I just started my biotin today. Nothing major..I thought I was past it since I am in month 8 of being banded. I have thin hair so I am a bit concerned! But I'll figure it out!

  2. I've just started noticing the past two or three weeks losing hair at a greater than normal rate for me. I too have huge hair. It's thick and coarse which makes for a wild combination. My dr at the clinic said it's normal even with adequate protein intake to lose some hair with a dramatic weight loss effort due to the hormones and chemical changes taking place. I for one and just a bit glad about the thinning. For now anyway! :)
